This year we thought it would be fun to set up a handmade ornament swap for the festive season. Each person made one ornament, for one particular person, taking into account their "wishlist" which was posted on our team forum. They then received one ornament from another person.
Each artist only knew the identity of those they were making for - they didn't know who was making for them, to ensure it was a surprise. The only person who knew was me, as I organised the whole thing. Names were put together at random (folded pieces of paper chosen by my husband) and we all set to.
At present there is still one ornament that I can't post a photo of. I know it's been sent, as the maker sent me a photo of it, but I can't post it as I'm unsure if it's been received or not and I don't want to spoil the surprise. I'll add this photo later on when I'm sure!!
Here they are in all their beautiful and original glory.
It's been an incredibly fun and successful wee event, and I think we're all keen to do it again next year. Everyone who took part enjoyed not just receiving their gift, but making their own design for someone specific. Starting early was the key - we set up in October, so people had a couple of months. Avoiding any last moment panic was key to keeping it fun!
So cute! Hopefully I can be involved in this next year... great items!
ReplyDeleteI love my ornaments I got (the burlap peace, love, joy) and will treasure them always. I look forward to doing this again.
ReplyDeleteWonder what I'll make next year...maybe my knitting skills will be good enough for something festive and knitted!
